Lansdowne Classic Series   lansdowneclassicseries -> Handicap System

350 & 500 Handicap System

Originality
In order to accommodate some machines primarily built for use in other championships that do not strictly conform to Lansdowne eligibility, we have adopted a ‘stick & carrot’ approach in applying championship points.

Overall :
No change to rider points in 350 and 500
Old GP Scoring system of 15 points (1st), 12 points (2nd), 10 (3rd), 9 (4th), 8 (5th), and so down to 1 point for 12th place.

Machine Points:
No machine properly eligible for 2008 will be banned in 2009 as there are no changes to the eligibility rules (apart from clarifying tyre widths and weight limits) BUT eligible machines will have their handicap re-assessed for 2009 according to the table below. The prescribed number of points will be added / deducted from the riders points score for each race.
The guiding principles have been:

Max Minus Points = -6; Max Plus Points = + 5

If you are considering modifying or doing anything out of the ordinary to your machine, please check with the organisers that it will be accepted before getting the hack-saw out.

Guidelines for the weights of the most commonly used machines are as follows.

Every rider / entrant must fill in and return a "Machine spec" form before entering or competing in a meeting, this enables us to handicap the respective bike. If you have a ‘spare’ bike we need a form for that as well, and please tell Richard Adams which bike you are riding, or of any changes to your bike spec. that you may make throughout the season. Machine spec. form can be downloaded as PDF page here
